Everything you need to know about Advanced Machine Power products, installation, charging, and support.

General

Advanced Machine Power designs and assembles its products in the United States, with an in-house engineering team that handles everything from cell selection to BMS firmware. We don't resell generic overseas packs — every product is purpose-built for industrial applications and backed by US-based technical support.

We serve warehousing and distribution, food and beverage, automotive manufacturing, aerospace, retail, cold storage, and general manufacturing. If your operation uses electric forklifts, AGVs, or other industrial electric equipment, we likely have a solution for you.

Yes. Our engineering team regularly designs custom battery systems to meet specific voltage, capacity, form factor, communication protocol, and environmental requirements. Contact us to discuss your application and we'll provide a feasibility assessment and quote.

Battery Technology

Advanced battery chemistries — including LFP, NMC, LTO, and sodium-ion — offer significantly longer cycle life, faster charging, zero maintenance, consistent voltage throughout discharge, and no off-gassing. While the upfront cost is higher, the total cost of ownership over 5–7 years is typically lower when factoring in maintenance labor, battery room infrastructure, and replacement costs.

Advanced Machine Power offers multiple cell chemistries to match the demands of each application. Our standard go-to chemistry is Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4 / LFP), which provides the best combination of safety, cycle life, and thermal stability for most industrial uses. We also offer NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) for applications requiring higher energy density, LTO (Lithium Titanate) for ultra-fast charging and extreme cycle life, and Sodium-Ion for cost-sensitive applications with moderate energy density needs. You can explore and compare these chemistries in our Battery Designer tool.

A BMS is an electronic system that monitors and controls the battery's operation. It protects against overcharge, over-discharge, overcurrent, and overtemperature conditions. It also balances individual cells to maximize pack life and provides state-of-charge data to the vehicle or operator. Every Advanced Machine Power product includes an integrated BMS.

Service life depends on the cell chemistry selected. Our standard LFP batteries are rated for up to 6,000 full charge cycles, LTO cells can exceed 20,000 cycles, and sodium-ion offers approximately 5,000 cycles. In practice, this typically translates to 7–10+ years of service in a single-shift operation. Multi-shift operations with opportunity charging may see slightly shorter calendar life but will still significantly outperform lead-acid alternatives. Use our Battery Designer to compare cycle life across chemistries.

Charging

No. Lead-acid chargers use charging profiles that are incompatible with advanced battery chemistries and will damage the cells or trigger BMS protection. Every Advanced Machine Power battery requires a compatible charger with the correct charging algorithm for the specific cell chemistry. We can supply chargers alongside our battery systems — contact our sales team for charger options and pricing.

Opportunity charging means charging the battery during short breaks rather than doing a full charge cycle. Our batteries handle this exceptionally well — unlike lead-acid, they have no memory effect and are not harmed by partial charging. This makes them ideal for multi-shift operations. LTO chemistry is especially well-suited for ultra-fast opportunity charging scenarios.

Charge time depends on the battery capacity, charger output, and cell chemistry. Our standard LFP batteries typically reach 80% in 1–2 hours with an appropriate charger. LTO-based packs support significantly faster charging rates — up to 15C charge rate — allowing full charges in minutes rather than hours. AGV batteries can often charge fully in under 1 hour depending on configuration. Use the Battery Designer to explore charge rates for each chemistry.

Installation

In many cases, yes. Our batteries are engineered to match the physical dimensions, connector types, and communication protocols of the lead-acid batteries they replace in AGVs, AMRs, and other industrial equipment. In some cases, minor adapter hardware or software configuration may be required. Our team will confirm compatibility before any order is placed.

Yes. We offer on-site installation and commissioning support for all product lines. Our technicians will handle the physical installation, charger setup, and operator training. Contact us for availability and pricing in your region.

Safety

Yes. The chemistries we offer — LFP, NMC, LTO, and sodium-ion — do not produce hydrogen gas during charging (unlike lead-acid), so no special ventilation is required. Our standard LFP chemistry is particularly well-regarded for safety as it does not experience thermal runaway under normal abuse conditions. All batteries include multi-layer BMS protection against overcharge, overtemperature, and short circuit conditions. They are safe for use in food-grade and temperature-controlled environments.

Advanced Machine Power batteries can be certified to UL 2580, UL 2271, UN 38.3, and CE according to customer requirements. Certification is available as an added service and is scoped on a per-project basis. Contact us to discuss the certification requirements for your application.

Support & Warranty

All Advanced Machine Power products come with a standard 3-year warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. Extended warranty options of up to 5 years are available. Our warranty covers parts and labor for any covered repair or replacement.

Warranty Terms & Conditions That May Void Coverage:

The following actions or conditions will void the battery warranty:

  • Opening, disassembling, or tampering with the battery enclosure or internal components
  • Overcharging or over-discharging the battery beyond BMS-specified limits
  • Use of unauthorized chargers or charging algorithms not approved by AMP
  • Installation in unapproved equipment or applications not specified at time of purchase
  • Exposure to water, chemical spray, or excessive moisture beyond the rated IP protection
  • Operation in extreme temperatures below −20°C or above 50°C
  • Dropping, impact damage, or other mechanical abuse
  • Modification of BMS firmware or hardware without written authorization
  • Failure to follow the prescribed maintenance schedule
  • Use of the battery after a BMS fault indicator has been triggered without contacting AMP support

Our US-based technical support team is available Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM EST, by phone at 262-707-8361 or by email at [email protected]. Emergency support is available 24/7 for critical operational issues.

Advanced Machine Power offers a battery take-back and recycling program. When your battery reaches end of life, contact us to arrange pickup and certified recycling in compliance with all applicable regulations. Please note that there may be a recycling fee depending on the battery chemistry and condition. We do not accept batteries shipped to our facility without prior written approval. Please contact our support team to initiate the end-of-life process.
